The devices which have been developed are the new BCU 560, 565 and 580 for multiple burner applications in industrial thermoprocessing systems. Stage- or modulating-controlled burners of unlimited capacity can be controlled and monitored in intermittent mode and continuous operation. Together with the protective system control FCU 500, the models BCU 560, 565 and 580 control the start-up of the heating equipment and monitor the ongoing operation of the burners. Depending on requirements, applications with directly ignited burners can be implemented with the BCU 560 and 565, and combinations of burners with integrated pilot burners can be implemented with the BCU 580. An optionally available valve proving system checks the tightness of the gas valves.

The operator-control unit OCU 500 can be combined with devices of the FCU 500 and BCU 500 series, ensuring easy operation and visualization in the control cabinet door.

Extended visualization and diagnostics options for commissioning and maintenance work are available via the BCSoft programming software and the optical interface on the devices. Thanks to the detailed visualization of all parameters, the system status and the possibility of adapting the parameterization, the availability of the heating equipment can be maximized.

The bus module BCM 500 also serves this purpose because it allows the burner control unit and protective system control to be easily integrated in the process automation system. The burner control units of the BCU 500 series can be used for applications pursuant to EN 746-2 in combination with a protective system control FCU 500. The devices meet the requirements of Standard EN 298 for intermittent and continuous operation. In conjunction with accordingly certified sensors and actuators, they can be used for safety functions up to SIL 3 corresponding to PL e in accordance with the requirements of EN 61508 and EN ISO 13849.
